ABOUT US
G-thamini offers educational and creative programming to the youth of Mukuru. They offer programming at their facilities and within primary and secondary schools. G-thamini Youth Group is registered as a community-based organization (CBO) with the Kenyan government.
G-thamini began as a small, locally driven initiative rooted in the Mukuru community’s need to uplift its youth. Mukuru kwa Njenga, Nairobi’s second largest informal settlement with an estimated 700,000 people, has long faced challenges such as limited access to quality education, insufficient resources such as running water and electricity and an environment conducive to drugs and crime.
In response, a group of concerned residents, inspired by the potential of local youth, came together to form what is now known as G-Thamini.
The name “G-thamini” embodies their mission: to value (“thamini”) and empower every young person within the community to reach their full potential.
